VTR 202
Title:  VTR 202
Description:  VTR 202 was one of the locomotives that the Vermont Railway ordered new from the builder back in their early days. Constructed by EMD in 1974, it arrived in Vermont in VTQ's classy red and white paint scheme and was soon put to work on the railroad's freight trains over the old Rutland line between Burlington, Rutland, and Bennington. In the early 21st century it exchanged its red and white for dark blue and was assigned to the short lived Champlain Flyer commuter train that was operated between Burlington and Charlotte with rebuilt "Boise Budd" coaches. After the end of Champlain Flyer operations, the locomotive would become the only unit system wide to be painted up for VRS affiliate Washington County Railroad, a look it still maintains today, although it can be found on any part of the Vermont Rail System. The Washington County Railroad currently consists of two divisions, the old Montpelier and Barre branch in the Granite District and the longer line between Newport and White River Junction.
