BKRR 605 |
Description: |
Seen through the window of the old Greenwich enginehouse is one of the Battenkill's old Alco RS-3s. Built in 1950 as Lehigh & Hudson River Railway 10, it was sold to the Vermont Railway in the 1960s where it worked until being sold to the BKRR in the 1980s. It is the only former L&HR RS-3 in operating condition and one of three to survive from that road. |

BKRR 4116 |
Description: |
Resting in the shadows of the feed mill in Salem is the Battenkill's other Alco. Built in 1952 for the Delaware & Hudson as 4116, it was leased to the Greenwich & Johnsonville, a D&H subsidiawy and predecessor to BKRR. The railroad has kept it lettered for the old G&J. |
