RDG 9123 |
Description: |
Two tone green paint now adorns the side of this former electric commuter coach, once operated daily between Philadelphia's Reading Terminal and the railroad's electrified lines through the surrounding suburbs. Number 9123 was constructed by the Harlan & Hollingsworth division of Bethlehem Steel down in Wilmington, DE in 1932. Originally painted green and numbered 867, it was equipped with Taylor style trucks for a smoother ride, which are still retained today. The Reading rebuilt this car at the Reading shops in 1965 with a more modernized interior and a new blue and white paint job, earning it the nickname of Blueliner. The car last saw service for SEPTA in the late 1980s. Some interesting features on the exterior include the end marker lights, and the Reading style "drip strip" over the vestibule doors. The car also retains its headlights on both ends. |
