NAUG X105 |
Description: |
A little warm for the use of a snowplow this day but it sure makes for an interesting sight. Maine Central received this plow in 1936 from the Russell Snowplow Company of Pennsylvania. It also was operated by the Green Mountain Railroad of Vermont for many years before GMRC was acquired by the Vermont Rail System. The Naugatuck Railroad still occasionally uses the plow to keep the right of way clear during those harsh Connecticut snowstorms. |

Crane Train Display |
Description: |
The crane, built in 1954, is one of the few pieces of rolling stock left from B&M/MEC subsidiary Portland Terminal Company, which once operated trackage and yards around the city of Portland, ME. The MEC gondola was constructed in 1939 and wears a similar paint scheme to the B&M SW-1 at the head of the display train. Both pieces of equipment were constructed at a time when B&M and MEC had joint management. |

NAUG 2203 |
Description: |
Calling the Naugatuck Valley its home for the past fifteen years, this 1977 built GE is quite the historic unit. Acquired by Conrail as part of an order of ten locomotives, this unit has the distinction of being the last Universal series locomotive constructed by General Electric. The Providence & Worcester Railroad of Massachusetts would later add this locomotive to their roster, the source of its current paint scheme and number. |

CNDX 2023 |
Description: |
A member of the New Haven's FL-9 fleet that once transported trains of passengers between the large stations in New York City and various points in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Number 2023 was built as NH 2057 in the fall of 1960 and also served Penn Central and Conrail later in its career. The unit is also one of four FL-9s rebuilt for the Connecticut DOT in 1985 and restored back to its original McGinnis paint scheme. Retired from commuter operations in 2002, it arrived at the museum a few months later. There were sixty FL-9s constructed by EMD between 1956 and 1960, all for the New Haven. Longer than a standard F unit, they have the capability of operating either on diesel or third rail electric power. |
