CSS 802
A very rare electric locomotive, CSS 802 was one of twenty units constructed by GE in 1949 for export to the USSR. However due to deteriorating relations between the US and the Soviet Union at the time, the locomotives were instead rebuilt to standard gauge and sold off to American railroads, including the Chicago South Shore & South Bend. 802 served on the Chicago area line until retirement in 1983. Nicknamed "800s" on the CSS, they were also referred to as "Little Joes" in reference to where they were originally supposed to be sent.
