RDG 5204 |
Description: |
Awaiting restoration back to Reading gold and green is one of two surviving Alco C424 diesels that the railroad purchased back in 1963. Used on heavy mainline freight consists, the locomotive worked for both the Reading and Conrail until retirement from service in 1979. After a rebuilt at the beginning of the 1980s, the unit went on to work for the Green Bay & Western, the operation where it received its current red look. The mid 1990s would see the 5204 returned to its home state once again for preservation. |
