ALCO 5
Title:  ALCO 5
Description:  A rather historic Alco switcher rests out of service at North Creek yard. Built in 1947, the American Locomotive Company kept the unit and used it for switching chores around the vast facilities at Schenectady, NY. The unit was later sold into private ownership and was restored to its original paint scheme. It then bounced around to several northeastern shortline operations, including the Adirondack Scenic, the Delaware Lackawanna, and even the famous Strasburg Railroad. It came to North Creek for operation on the former Upper Hudson River Railroad excursions, working with Alco RS36 5019. Sidelined after SNC took over in 2011, it was later acquired by the new operator of the line but, despite being able to operate, has mainly been a display in North Creek yard for the past few years.
